What the human evidence actually is

None published. The evidence is mouse colitis models, cell culture, and topical animal skin work showing suppressed NF-κB signalling. It reached FDA advisory review in July 2026 on the strength of that preclinical record and clinical use reports, not controlled human trials. For eczema specifically, approved treatments — topical steroids, calcineurin inhibitors, dupilumab, JAK inhibitors — have randomised evidence that KPV does not.

How it is supposed to work

Blocks NF-κB and MAPK inflammatory signalling; unlike full α-MSH it lacks the melanocortin sequence that drives pigmentation.

Safety

No human safety database. Frequently sold as an oral capsule or topical cream where absorption and stability are unverified.

Storage and handling

Lyophilised peptide is generally stored at 2–8 °C, or below −20 °C for long-term storage. Reconstituted in bacteriostatic water (0.9% benzyl alcohol) a solution is typically treated as usable for about 28 days refrigerated, versus roughly 24 hours for plain sterile water, which has no preservative. Add the water slowly down the vial wall and swirl — never shake, which shears peptide chains and foams the solution.
